Have a Sweet Tooth??
So, you love sugar? You may want to think deeply before indulging. I have some tips that can elongate your life and help prevent some common diseases.
There is plenty of science that encourages us to avoid sugar as much as possible, but are we listening?
The amount of daily “recommended” sugar intake is 6 teaspoons for women and 9 for men. 25 and 36 grams respectively. Think about some of the items that contain 25 grams of sugar… a single can of soda or one Hershey bar! Mountain Dew has more than 11 teaspoons of sugar and a 3 Musketeers bar has 10 teaspoons. Isn’t that insane?
What are some of the unwanted side effects of excess sugar consumption? How about these:

- Higher BAD cholesterol levels
- Heart disease
- Rotten teeth
- Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
The last two are particularly alarming. Most people relate liver disease to alcohol. However consuming large amounts of high fructose corn syrup can lead to fatty liver disease and cancer. And we know that cancer is one of the leading causes of death.
Scientists have found that consistently elevated of insulin levels(an effect caused by consuming sugar) can contribute to cancer and inflammation- another rarely discussed but potential cause of cancer.
Numerous studies show that people who consume high amounts of sugar are at an increased risk of getting cancer, and for many years it was thought that saturated fats were the culprit in heart disease. However, new studies are beginning to indicate that saturated fat can be somewhat harmless and that it is in fact sugar that is causing the heart disease!
