It’s that time of the year again! We hope everyone has had an awesome summer, but now it’s time to start thinking about getting back in the game! Businesses are kicking up, busy schedules are back on, and kids are heading back for another great school year!
Whether they are away at college or starting their first day of kindergarten, you want them to grow big and healthy. It doesn’t matter how old they are, the fact is we want them receiving proper nutrition (in and out of school). So what are some of the ways Elite can help?
We all have heard of the freshman 15.. yikes! Some students are hit by it harder than others. College is a great time in your life when you have tons of free time, you’re partying, and just having fun! Unfortunately, between the parties, food, and change in environment some people forget about living a healthy lifestyle. It is not impossible, it just takes a little dedication. Here are some ideas to help you achieve this lifestyle.
The no-brainer answer would be to go to the gym. Most campuses have at least one gym and it is usually free for the students. Don’t get discouraged or nervous with the amount of people in there if it’s crowded. Most of those students are there with the same goals in mind- to live healthier and better their body. Class can drag on for what seems like forever sometimes.
Bring small snacks to class like fruit or nuts to keep you filled up. This will keep you from overeating after class. When eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner at college be mindful of what you are eating. You do not have to go to the pizza place or fast food spot on campus all the time. Search for a sandwich spot, build you own salad, or cook yourself! We do understand that everyone cannot cook in their dorms. This is where we come in. You can order 7 meals per week to help you get through the week eating well. Late night hunger when everything’s closed? No problem! Just pop one of our meals in the microwave and you’re good to go! Great taste and great for you!
A healthy lifestyle really starts from when the children are young. They create habits, good or bad, that will follow them throughout their life. Start creating good habits with them when it comes to their health! At schools, they’ll happily serve the children pizza, cookies, juice, and snacks with no hesitation. Now every kid deserves to have some delicious snacks like cookies or candy, but in moderation. You do not want your kid building these habits young, though.
Here are some suggestions to help your children achieve a healthier lifestyle. Instead of sending them with cookies or chips everyday, substitute those with apples or carrots. Show them that fruits and vegetables are just as delicious! Forget about the Capri Sun juice box everyday. Save that for an after school treat and put a water in that lunchbox! Physical activity is also very important at this age. Keep the kids active in sports, parks, or any other outdoor activities. It seems like young children would rather play video games instead of running around in the park. Nothing’s wrong with some Xbox or PlayStation, but do not let them become a couch potato! Giving the children healthier snacks and keeping them active will only set them up better for their future!
